We thank our ministry partner, Nathaniel Adawonu, with New Harvest Mission International for calling more than 100 churches in their network in Togo, West Africa, to pray for the persecuted churches in China, especially Early Rain Covenant Church in Chengdu and their pastor Wang Yi. These churches include 54 churches in the far remote Muslim-dominated regions in Northern Togo.
With this call to prayer, Nathaniel sent 100 recent French translations (see other translations now available below) of Pastor Wang Yi’s Chinese Declaration to all their church leaders. These churches are now gathering and praying for their persecuted brothers and sisters in China.
Foreseeing the outbreak of persecution in China, Pastor Wang Yi wrote My Declaration of Faithful Disobedience to be published by his church should he be detained for more than 48 hours. In it he explains the meaning and necessity of faithful disobedience, how it is distinct from political activism or civil disobedience, and how Christians should carry it out.
Again, our special thanks to our ministry partner Francis Foucachon from Heritage Huguenot for translating Wang Yi’s Declaration into French for us.
