Prayer is one of the mysterious means God has chosen through which he releases the transforming power of the gospel. The Apostle Paul urged the church at Ephesus to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests…be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints” (Eph 6:18). One quote the church leaders at this conference will hear on their first day of training is from Francis Schaeffer:
“Our greatest danger is…the church doing the work of ministry in the power of the flesh.”
This is why GCA’s practice is to focus on the priority of “kingdom prayer” in church planting, growth, and multiplication. The fear that I have as we approach this year’s conference is the ironic danger of doing our training so well that at the end of the conference these leaders are more self-reliant than Christ-dependent. It is with this in mind that I’m asking you to join me in prayer for the conference, along with many organizations such as Wycliffe Bible Translators, Campus Crusade for Christ, and Africa Inland Mission with 65+ prayer warriors already committed in prayer support.
